...if there is one perk to recovering from major surgery...
...it HAS to be having a list of books like this waiting for me!
all brand spanking new hardback latest editions of my favorite new authors!
I also have "THE FETCH" by Laura Whitcomb. I loved her novel "A CERTAIN SLANT OF LIGHT" about a lonely ghost who finds a friend in a living boy. That is why I am so excited to have her latest book!
"FADE" is the follow up book to "WAKE" by Lisa McMann. About a girl who can go into other's dreams.
"THE DEAD AND THE GONE" by Susan Beth Pfeffer is the continuation from a different character's perspective of the tragic results of "LIFE AS WE KNEW IT".
In the first novel an asteroid, that was seen as harmless, has hit the moon. No one suspected what would result. With the moon closer to the earth the tides shift, volcanoes erupt and natural disasters take place...people begin to die without light, clean air, lack of food, natural disasters and disease. Sounds implausible to read on a book jacket, but the story was a moving journal of day to day struggle in a small family with a single mother, with a teenage son and daughter, and her fight for her children to survive, told by the daughter. I highly recommend it to anyone!
"THE LACE READER" by Brunonia Barry and "THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX" by Mary E. Pearson sounded intriguing and were impossible to get on paperbackswap.com so these are what I also chose with my gift card.
I did make preparations in advance... with about twenty other great books from paperbackswap.comin anticipation of boredom and a long recovery...
I can read a book a day if it's good...
but the pain medication makes my drowsy and my eyes start crossing. So I've been home 2 and a half weeks with no reading! So frustrating...
but maybe today...
